Finally, Aphilo agreed to replace our old (but still working) Asus A3N Notebook for a brand new Macbook. I had been discussing this with her for quite some time now especially when I see her editing some of her product or personal photos and see her frustrations most of the time when her laptop starts to crawl. Things were really getting slow for her an even though she always mentions that its just ok and she can live with it, I know that she would be much happier if she can get hold of a faster machine for her photography work. Well, I just told her that if you really want to get serious with photography then you must have a machine were you can truly view and appreciate the quality of your digital phot0 and somehow give you the right tools for minor enchancements whenever its needed. Moreover, an important occassion is coming soon and I told her that this is the best gift I can think of for her.
It’s been a while since I had a true vacation or let’s say a getaway from my work. But just last week, I finally got the chance to take a break from work and go out of town with my family. Since it’s summer, we decided to go to a private resort just outside the city.
The resort was really cool. The pool is big enough, there’s a small outdoor jacuzzi, and most of all the rooms are cozy it’s comparable to a 4-star hotel. There was also a multi-purpose hall where the kitchen is and the videoke machine as well. Regarding the price, I think it’s reasonable enough. It might be a bit pricey, but it was well worth it. Just seeing the whole family enjoy our 2 days, 1 night stay at the resort was priceless.
The short vacation, really helped me a lot to somehow unwind ang re-energize myself with work and may day-to-day activities. 
Just a few weeks ago, I started considering again to purchase an iPhone 3G since I was able to get my hands on friends unit and found the interface being so cool. Besides, adding iPhone development to my credentials might be useful cool and learning more on Objective-C application development would be quite fun when you are able to test to an actual unit. Then again, something held up my decision and this is the inability of the iPhone to natively support 3G or Wi-Fi network tethering or in layman’s term using it as a bluetooth or USB modem for your laptop when on the go.
Every now and then I get this new message on my Friendster’s Inbox from some gorgeous looking chic about free cellphones. It’s kinda weird and definitely it’s a spam so I after trying one of the links I get forwarded to a friendster profile page of someone and then to another website that just loops between 1st.php and 2nd.php which are both blank pages (e.g. http://example.com/1st.php and http://example.com/2nd.php). I’m not sure if this spreads any virus, spyware or any malicious software but out of curiosity and since I am using a Mac which is less prone to such things, I decided to try the links. As expected, it’s just plain non-sense.
Just last week, an ex-colleague and a dear friend passed away. I’m still not sure what exactly took the life of this 26 year old woman, but most people close to her informed me that it’s some sort of heart illness. I haven’t seen her for quite some time now, but during those times we got to chat online, she already mentioned heart palpitations she’s experiencing which for her doesn’t really seem to be serious at that time. She just thought that she just might be tired or stressed or something like that. I even advised her to take a break or loosen up a bit which I really thought would help, but I really don’t know if she heed my advice. (more…)
I had been a long time GoDaddy customer and if my memory serves me right I had been with them for more or less 6 years already. It was actually the first company to whom I had registered my first domain and learned about domain registration and management. Generally speaking, I was a happy customer and never did I experience major problems with them. Then again, due to a lot of changes they had done with their services or domain offerings, I just felt that they are becoming inappropriate for my needs and budget. So I decided to just move on and look for another registrar.
