Car Care Day

Posted in Daily Living on July 31st, 2005

For today, I decided to have my car checked since I’m starting to hear some faint grinding in my front wheels. For me, things like this can’t be taken for granted and should be attended to as soon as possible so I went to my car mechanice at around 8AM.

Well, it’s good that I had it checked today since my front wheel brake pads are already so thin that it wouldn’t last a month of everyday use to and from the office. My rear brake pads were still ok, but it just needed a little bit of cleaning as well as some adjustments.

Whew! At least now, I don’t hear any weird noises in my car and my family and I are quite secured knowing things are ok for our ride. ;)

Fun Times on a Saturday

Posted in Daily Living on July 31st, 2005

My day started early today, I think around 4:30AM .. (as if I wake up late, ei..that’s my usual rise and shine time..) ;)

I started the day with what else??.. of course a cup of coffee and a couple of cigarettes, while sitting comfortably at our backyard. At around 9AM, Aphilo, Angel and I went to the hair salon to have a fresh haircut ‘coz it’s been almost 2 months since we had our last haircut. What’s so cool about this day is that Angel had a new hairdo. Instead of the usual shoulder length hair, she now had a short hair and she’s so cute with it. :)

In the evening, I accompanied Aphilo to her high school class reunion. It was such a fun event, but the problem is, Aphilo went to a school exclusive for girls so I think there were only around 5 guys in the party and it kinda feel awkward hearing girl talk. I just don’t know how to react to some green jokes they have or if they discuss sensitive issues about being a woman (well, you know what I mean.. :)) ). Aphilo and I went home at around 11PM and boy, I am now so tired that my eyes are starting to shut down .. I guess it’s time to end this day filled with fun .. ;)

Documentation Day

Posted in Techno Stuffs on July 29th, 2005

As much as I wanted, to stay away from documentation .. well, I guess I really can’t get away with it. B-)

It’s not that I hate writing documentation stuffs, but it just bores me. As a techie geek I rather do some programming or server stuffs rather than spend time with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc..) . But then again, in the IT world, I do agree that documentation on projects and assigned tasks are really important. In the first place, if not for documents written by techie geeks I don’t think I would be able to learn all the stuffs I know right now. Moreover, these documentation tasks gives direction to every project’s roadmap.

To make the long story short, I finished the documents needed by the end of the day, and the funny thing is I feel more tired writing stuffs in Microsoft Word the whole day compared to coding using Java IDE’s or vim editor.. :))

DO YOU LOOK OLD?

Posted in Daily Living on July 28th, 2005

Another cool email that made my day .. :)

*****************************************
HAVE YOU EVER BEEN GUILTY OF LOOKING AT OTHERS YOUR OWN AGE AND THINKING, SURELY “I CAN’T LOOK THAT OLD?” WELL… YOU’LL LOVE THIS ONE! ;)

I WAS SITTING IN THE WAITING ROOM FOR MY FIRST APPOINTMENT WITH A NEW DENTIST. I NOTICED HIS DDS DIPLOMA, WHICH BORE HIS FULL NAME. SUDDENLY, I REMEMBERED A TALL, HANDSOME, DARK-HAIRED BOY WITH THE SAME NAME HAD BEEN IN MY HIGH SCHOOL CLASS SOME 40-ODD YEARS AGO. COULD HE BE THE SAME GUY THAT I HAD A SECRET CRUSH ON, WAY BACK THEN??

UPON SEEING HIM, HOWEVER, I QUICKLY DISCARDED ANY SUCH THOUGHT. THIS BALDING GRAY-HAIRED MAN WITH THE DEEPLY LINED FACE WAS WAY TOO OLD TO HAVE BEEN MY CLASSMATE. HMMM,…OR COULD HE???

AFTER HE EXAMINED MY TEETH, I ASKED HIM IF HE HAD ATTENDED MORGAN PARK HIGH SCHOOL.

“YES. YES, I DID. I’M A MUSTANG,” HE GLEAMED WITH PRIDE. “WHEN DID YOU GRADUATE?” I ASKED.

HE ANSWERED, ! “IN 1959. WHY DO YOU ASK?”

“YOU WERE IN MY CLASS!” I EXCLAIMED.

HE LOOKED AT ME CLOSELY. THEN, THAT UGLY, OLD, WRINKLED SON-OF-A-BITCH ASKED,

“WHAT DID YOU TEACH?”

New Work Assignments

Posted in Techno Stuffs on July 27th, 2005

I received my new possible work assignments today. Thought things aren’t final yet, my boss already asked me to stary looking into it. I have been working with the same old project for several years now (it’s sort of a mobile email system), and finally getting the chance to work on different projects and building competence on new technologies made me excited. :)

My first possible assignment would be an SMS client that would be compatible based on the OMA(Open Mobile Alliance) Wireless Village CSP (Client Server Protocol) Specifications. It’s going to be used by our IMPS (Instant Messaging and Presence Server) and we have to abide by the OMA specifications for interoperability with existing APIs and Wireless Village implementations.

The second assignment my boss want me to look into is developing a Brew client for our IMPS server. Our existing clients (J2ME, Symbian, WAP, and PC) are implemented on GSM networks and mobile terminals and due to some lead in the US telcos which makes use of CDMA networks and mobile terminals, a Brew client would give us the advantage to sell our products in their market.

First and foremost I have to do a lot of reading to acquaint myself to this new technologies and somehow do some more research to help me get started with.

So off I go for a new road of work .. ;)

Why Many Women Today Are Still Single

Posted in Daily Living on July 27th, 2005

I received this email this morning and I’m not really sure how to react on this..

Top reasons why ladies today are still SINGLE

1. The nice men are ugly.

2. The handsome men are not nice.

3. The handsome and nice men are gay.

4. The handsome, nice and heterosexual men are married.

5. The men who are not so handsome, but are nice men, have no money.

6. The men who are not so handsome, but are nice men with money think we are only after their money.

7. The handsome men without money are after our money.

8. The handsome men, who are not so nice and somewhat heterosexual, don’t think we are beautiful enough.

9. The men who think we are beautiful, that are heterosexual, somewhat nice and have money, are cowards.

10. The men who are somewhat handsome, somewhat nice and have some money and thank God are heterosexual, are shy and NEVER MAKE THE FIRST MOVE!!!!

11. The men who never make the first move, automatically lose interest in us when we
take the initiative.

NOW, WHO THE HELL UNDERSTANDS MEN?

“Men are like a fine wine. They all start out like grapes, and it’s our job to stomp on them and keep them in the dark until they mature into something you’d like to have dinner with.”
