I’ve been trying to find different ways of posting on my WordPress blog and found several software available in the Internet. The first one I found was Postie which is a WordPress plugin that allows you to blog through email. This had been very useful for me since it enables me to post useful information I get from my email inbox to my blog. I am also able to take a picture through my mobile phone and then post it to my blog using my mobile phone’s email client. Isn’t that amazing? ![]()
Then after a while, I found BlogDesk. It’s another blog posting alternative which enables you to post on your blog directly from your desktop and bypass the usual method of logging in to your blog and then create a new post using your blog’s web interface. It also offers a lot of tools to make your blog posting easier, such as a spell-checking tool, image editor, and all sorts of post formatting tools which includes inserting links, font manipulation, text alignment, etc.
From all the tools I mentioned that BlogDesk offers, my favorite is the image editor. Not only does it allow you to include an image to your post, but it also offers a very simple to use image editor that allows you to resize your image and create a thumbnail. Image and text alignment is also available so you get to decide on the best image placement for your new post.
Another thing in which I find BlogDesk very useful is it allows me to create a post even if I don’t have an Internet connection, by saving my new post for later sending when I get the chance to connect to the Internet. This somehow allows me to be more flexible and mobile in posting when a sudden useful idea gets to me, as long as I have my notebook around. Of course, Postie offers more mobility through the use of my mobile phone, but it’s quite hard to create a long post using
The only drawback I can find on BlogDesk is the “Change Date and Time” function doesn’t work on WordPress blogs. I’m not really sure why this is happening but even the author of the software is aware of the problem and currently doesn’t have the fix for it. Then again, it’s just a minor problem compared to a wide variety of useful things this software has to offer.
There are other desktop blogging software available around which you can find by Googling. But for me, I am very contented with BlogDesk and for me it’s one cool blogging application. ![]()
