My first week at work with my new job isn’t really that exciting. Most of the time, I am reading long documents to introduce me to the company policies, products, and software architectures being used in the company. I must say that everything is new to me. I even find the company policies quite strict as for someone who came from a small organization. On the brighter side, at least I would be able to build new skills and competence as well as learn to adjust in the corporate environment.
Generally speaking, my first week is boring considering that when I arrive in the office I’m not really sure what am I suppose to do. Everyone’s busy with their respective projects while I am busy trying to find stuffs to do. I have a training plan, but considering that everyone around me is busy with their work, it can’t be followed on a daily basis. Since no one is available to train me or help me out with things I just tried to make the most of my time here while waiting for a really challenging task to learn as much as I can to get me up to speed with my team. Microsoft OS and products are dominant here so as a Linux guru and open source afficionado, I’m considered a newbie.
I’m sure this won’t be the case later on or let’s say a few weeks from now, but right now.. life here is really, really boring .. ![]()
