Busy January

Posted in Techno Stuffs on January 30th, 2007

This is my first post for this month and for this year, and this is due to the so busy schedule I have both at work and some personal projects I’m working on. :D

I must admit that I felt so tired in the past weeks, and this is due to the fact that I’ve been working day and night, (yup that’s right day and night) and only getting around 4-5 hours of sleep each day. It’s not healthy I know, but there are times wherein your thirst for knowledge reigns over your need for rest. Well, I decided to keep it a bit low for the next few weeks though, since more or less I had attained quite a bit of the competence I need.

At work, well I’ve been working on some C#, ASP/.NET and Web programming and I am really enjoying it. It seems to be overwhelming at first considering the fact that I’ve been a Java programmer for Linux and mobile platforms for the last 7 years of my career and a shift to Windows based application development isn’t that easy. Well, after a few readings and actual coding, I guess C# or ASP/.NET isn’t that far from Java in terms of the programming structure. I tend to be confused at first on some syntax but I’m slowly getting the hang of it.

After arriving from work and when everyone’s asleep, I turn on my PC or laptop and do some Java programming. I decided to continue working on some personal Java projects just as not to forget my roots. I’m done working on some JAX-RPC based simple web services, and JSR-172 implementations on mobile devices. Right now, I’m trying to learn SOAP (and SIP on the side). I just would like to learn more about Java services, so I decided to initially take this direction in terms of Java technology. These projects are messaging applications, since that was what I’ve been working on in my previous job. I’m planning to extend the scope of my applications to other forms, maybe real-time currency converters, weather reports or maybe play a bit with some Google APIs.

Well, that’s how my life have been for the past few weeks. It’s tiring but it’s technically rewarding as well. ;)
