A Spa Break

Posted in Daily Living on June 28th, 2007

It’s been a while since Aphilo and I went out to escape from our busy worlds of family and work. So last weekend, we decided it’s about time to give ourselves a break and somehow spend some time together away from our busy lives.

Since both of us haven’t experienced the ever popular spa treatment, Aphilo searched for a good place where we can both experience it for the first time. She found this spa and resort just outside the city so she made the reservations and off we went to the place for a day’s spa experience.

We arrived at the place at 8AM and the office would not be open until 10AM, so we had to wait for 2 hours to arrange our activities for the day. It’s good that we met this very accommodating staff who served us breakfast and accompanied us to our room. After eating breakfast we roamed around the place and it feels good to be walking in a rain forest atmosphere. I must say that as a nature lover, I felt so comfortable and at home with the place. Aphilo was also so happy with the place and I can really see how she’s enjoying our get away.

Around 11AM, we started the spa experience. It started with a 15 minute stay at the hot sauna, and then another 15 minutes inside the steam bath room. Then, we relaxed for quite some time at the hot and cold jacuzzi. The hot jacuzzi was filled with lemon fruits and leaves while the cold jacuzzi was filled with roses and other flowers. Pretty cool, ei? It’s really something that I liked. Just enjoying the jacuzzi while sipping through a hot cup of green tea made me feel so good. Aphilo liked the green tea so much that she even asked the staffs the brand of the green tea they used so she can buy some for her self.

After the jacuzzi bath, we then proceeded to the body scrub room. Damn! It really felt so good having your body scrubbed with some sort of sand and lotion and then rinsed with warm water. I felt so squeaky clean afterwards. Then for the ultimate experience, we had the massage. It was a combination of thai and swedish massage, and I must admit that after the massage, I really felt that all my body parts seems to be on a relaxing mode. We also had this thing called “ear candling” which cleans out your ears of ear wax using a special candle. It was said that it can cure frequent headaches, vertigo, migraine, and other things related to ear problems. To end the spa experience, we had our facial treatment (which includes diamond peeling) and foot scrubs, and I must say that after the facial Aphilo’s face looked so vibrant and she really looked so beautiful with those rosy cheeks. For me, I don’t think it has any effect after all, but it’s good to try anyway. Hehehehe!:D

We planned to extend our stay over night, but sad to say a company rented the pool and function rooms for the night so Aphilo and I thought that the place wouldn’t really be relaxing after all because for sure it would surely be noisy with all those party people around. So we decided to go home and end the day with a promise to ourselves that we’ll be doing it again.  ;)
