Its’ been more than a week since I had been experiencing problems with GlobeDSL, which is by the way the Internet connection here at my friend’s condo where I work during daytime.
Last week, it’s a big disappointment for the Internet connection to be totally useless as the ADSL link just couldn’t get a WAN address. It was only last Friday that a technician from Globe came over to check the modem and then fix the connection by tweaking some phone line configuration from their data center. Geesh! It just doesn’t seem right that you pay for 1 month subscription and yet, not being able to use it for almost a week. I wish they would give some refund or something to cover up the downtime of several days.
This time, it’s their DNS servers that doesn’t seem to work well. There are several sites which it can easily resolve, but most other sites, IP resolution just times out. I got so frustrated with this, and I just can’t wait anymore for them to fix the problem so I decided to fix things on my own. Instead of making use of their DNS servers, I decided to configure my own DNS server on my Mac. Another good thing on Mac, I can easily setup servers with ease just like in a UNIX/Linux box. So that’s what I did and now I’m problem-free from all those Globe network related problems that has been going on for more than a week.
I was thinking of subscribing to GlobeDSL at my parent’s house, but due to this.. I guess have yet to see some more proof of stability before I dig in to their offerings.
