Jython Rocks

Posted in Techno Stuffs on February 29th, 2008

Recently, I had the chance to use Jython in one of the projects I am working on, and I must say that it is one cool scripting language. ;)

Jython is so easy to understand and learn, and the what I really like about it, is that it combines the best of 2 worlds, namely Python and Java. A hybrid scripting language as some people call it. As a Java programmer, and a Linux guru, this is something that I find very useful. Not only am I able to do native scripts within Linux, but I can also access Java classes and objects within these scripts. The more I use it, the more I am having fun. I’m like a kid now, that loves to play over and over again with his new toy. :)

Goodby Corporate World (..for now)

Posted in Techno Stuffs on February 29th, 2008

I recently got a very tempting offer for an office job or in other words another shot to work in the corporate world. MySQL Replication

Posted in Techno Stuffs on February 16th, 2008

I recently obtained another VPS in order to have a separate server for pet projects and experimental Linux stuffs without affecting my websites or other services I host (e.g. subversion, squid proxy, etc.). I decided to get a VPS with much lower specs than my existing VPS (10GB disk space and 128MB RAM). I don’t think I would need that much disk space and RAM for my websites, mostly consist of blogs and forums as they are not really resource intensive considering the amount of traffic it currently gets.

Ash Wednesday Reflection

Posted in Techno Stuffs on February 6th, 2008

Today is Ash Wednesday and marks the beginning of the 40 days Lenten Season for Roman Catholics like me. To start off this day, Aphilo and I heard mass this morning as part of the tradition and I guess things would change a lot for me from now on due to this mass.
