For the past few days, I had been accompanying my little Angel to her summer swimming class, and there’s one thing I noticed .. “I’m the only dad.”. Well, it’s not the first time I experienced this but last summer when she took ballet lessons, it’s the same scenario. It’s kinda weird for some people who got used to the norms, but it’s how it is in my situation.
I oftentimes get that weird stare from most of the moms and the instructors of my little Angel, wherein I feel like they wanted to ask, “Why is this girl with her dad? Where’s her mom?”. Oh well, I don’t really mind since I don’t see anything wrong with it. It’s just that between me and Aphilo, I have the most flexible work time so I get to attend out children’s activities more often, even on weekdays. For some parents who dared to talk to me, and even asked me if I have a work or business, well I just tell them that I do my work at home. Most of the time, they find it hard to believe (and gives me that look as if I am bragging) since it’s not a common situation. It has been the norm that if one parent isn’t working, it’s usually the mom, or let’s say moms are usually the ones who accompany their child for school or summer activities. Well, not in our case. Since last year, I had always been with my little Angel’s activities such as school programs, field trips, summer school, birthday parties, etc. During all those time, there was only one instance wherein I saw a dad with her child, and that was during Angel’s field trip this year. It felt good then, since there’s another dad like me in the crowd.
Well, things would probably change now, since Aphilo just left her office job, and decided to be a full time home maker and hopefully a business woman soon. That’s a different story, that I have yet to see.. ![]()
