Aphilo’s New Baby - Canon EF 85mm f/1.8 USM Lens
Aphilo and I had a stroll at a mall this afternoon and passed by one of the Canon Stores. We weren’t really intending to buy something but she just wanted to look around and see what are the new things Canon has to offer for her photography hobby. We managed to talk to one of the sales person whom we have known for quite some time and I tell you, we are really impressed with this guy for he really knows the stuffs he sells, especially when it comes to Canon DSLR lenses. He’s also very enthusiastic to answer customers’ questions and explain their products’ features whether you’ll buy it or not.
Then after some chit-chats, we got curious about this portrait lens that’s displayed in one corner of the store. Aphilo wasn’t really that interested for this so called portrait lens since she got this impression that this lenses are for studio type photography due to the “portrait” prefix of the lens type. Then this salesman we know started discussing its features and even pulled the lens from the cabinet to demo it to us. We were really amazed by the quality of pictures it took, and the way it focus on the subject. I’m not really into photography, but honestly speaking I was pretty impressed by the speed of its auto-focus and the way it blurs or liquifies the background to make your subject stand out from the picture.
To make the long story short, we got out of the store with Aphilo carrying one of this Canon EF 85mm f/1.8 USM Lens. I think it’s relatively cheap considering the kind of images you can take with it, and again the smile on my Aphilo’s face make this purchase worthwhile.
