Finally, Aphilo agreed to replace our old (but still working) Asus A3N Notebook for a brand new Macbook. I had been discussing this with her for quite some time now especially when I see her editing some of her product or personal photos and see her frustrations most of the time when her laptop starts to crawl. Things were really getting slow for her an even though she always mentions that its just ok and she can live with it, I know that she would be much happier if she can get hold of a faster machine for her photography work. Well, I just told her that if you really want to get serious with photography then you must have a machine were you can truly view and appreciate the quality of your digital phot0 and somehow give you the right tools for minor enchancements whenever its needed. Moreover, an important occassion is coming soon and I told her that this is the best gift I can think of for her.
So off we went to some nearby computer shops to get a good bargain. Aphilo didn’t like the Macbook Pro since portability is such a priority for her and she doesn’t really that much processing power with the work she intends to do. So at the end of the day we had good deal for a 13.3″ Macbook with the following specs ( and a free Belkin laptop bag):
- Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4 Ghz
- 4GB DDR3 Memory
- 250GB hard drive1
- NVIDIA GeForce 9400M graphics
- Illuminated keyboard
- Aluminum unibody
She was very happy with her new Macbook and as soon as we got home, she played around with it and got inlove with iLife ‘09 especially iPhoto ‘09. She came to appreciate more all of her digital photos and as she said “My work had been much easier and faster on Mac”. I myself was very much impressed with the new look and features of the Macbook, such as the aluminum unibody and the quality of display of the new LED backlit screen. Moreover, iLife ‘09 also packed a lot of new features that made me think to upgrade my 17″MBP to it since I only have iLife ‘08. But that might come a bit later since I don’t really use iLife that much and now that Aphilo have her Mac, I can leave our family pictures organization with her.
So to Aphilo, welcome to the Mac world and again… “Once you go Mac, you’ll never go back.” ![]()
