HYPERAXE

Recently, my MacBook Pro’s video card failed and I was really disappointed with it. It came at a time wherein I most needed my MBP to work on some very important tasks. Moreover, my unit  is already out of warranty. When I Googled around to hopefully find a solution without bringing it to the Apple Service Center, I stumbled upon an advisory from Apple’s Support Site which stated that Nvidia admits a defect with their graphic processor on MacBook Pro, models with NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT graphics processors manufactured between May 2007 and September 2008. I was also happy to know that there’s a chance that my MBP would be fixed for free.

So I went to the nearest Apple Service Center to have my MBP repaired. I mentioned to the Apple Representative about the site I stumbled upon and asked them to confirm if my unit is covered for a free repair due to the Nvidia graphics processor defect since my unit’s manufacturing date was within the time frame stated in the advisory. The person I talked to was very kind and he assured me that they would consider the Apple advisory I raised.

After more than 2 weeks (which I think was quite long), I received an SMS from the Apple Service Center telling me that they already replaced my MBP’s logic board and I could already pick it up. I then asked if I have to pay for anything and they said that the repair was for free since my unit was covered by the Nvidia graphics processor defect advisory. Whew! I was so happy then, since it saved me around $300 (based on searching in the Internet for the price of a logic board replacement) for the repair cost of my unit.

To Apple, I really think that their after sales support is great and with that I became more proud to be an Apple user and would never go back to a PC.  Thanks to you guys, and more power!
